If only we knew then what we know now, right?

How many times have we said that to ourselves over the years as we reflect on life’s many twist and turns?

If it’s in any comfort, even the most successful Australians have things they’d do differently if they had a chance.

We asked five business women to share the lessons they’d impart to their younger, inexperienced selves.

Naomi Simson, entrepreneur, author, ‘Red Shark’

I’d tell my 20-year-old self it’d be okay. You’ll need passion, persistence, positivity and purpose. Know how you want to make the world a better place.

Maria Enna-Cocciolone, founder/CEO O Cosmedics

I’d tell my 20-year-old self, life is all about people. When you do the right thing by people it always comes back to you. Be sure of your direction, and what you stand for.

Janelle Gonzalez, co-founder/managing director Blue Toro

I’d tell my 20-year-old self, wear the different hats. Trust your instincts, smile a lot more and never stop learning. Back yourself 100%, ask the difficult questions and have the difficult conversations.

Edit Whitelaw, co-founder/CEO Essentially Keto

I’d tell my 20-year-old self, just go for it. There’s nothing stopping anyone from having a go – life is wonderful.

Caroline Machado Campos, CEO Mountain Designs

I’d tell my 20-year-old self be confident. Mistakes will happen but it’s how you learn and just be confident about what you’re doing. Believe in what you’re doing, and remember, you’re your own best marketer.

It takes a special mix of sass and smarts to wrangle co-hosts (and media heavyweights) Kerrie Anne Kennerley and Joe Hildebrand in front of a live studio audience every day. Sarah has both in spades; not least because she spent more than a decade on the road as a reporter, covering some of the biggest stories around the world. Before moving to Network 10, she worked at Channel Nine as the network’s go to reporter: delivering extended live coverage from Victoria’s Black Saturday bushfires, the Christchurch earthquake and Queensland’s devastating floods in 2011.
