Notorious hell-raisers Patsy Stone (Joanna Lumley) and Edina Stone (Jennifer Saunders), those hilarious 1990s icons of all things excessive, are dusting off the designer duds for one more spin around the wine bars and PR circuit.
Ahead of the much-anticipated big-screen version of the long-running TV series Ab Fab, here’s a sneak peek at what to expect when the best friends are finally unleashed on an unsuspecting generation in July 2016.
In the short teaser trailer below, the stylish duo sets sail, sips cocktails on the beach and find some hunky men along the French Riviera to keep them company.
The film features cameos from Kate Moss, Harry Styles, Kim Kardashian, Joan Collins, Stella McCartney, among many other stars queuing up to join in the fun.
Julia Sawalha is also back as Eddy’s daughter Saffy and June Whitfield returns as Eddy’s mum. Jane Horrocks also revives her role as Bubbles.
The plot? It’s almost secondary when it comes to Patsy and Edina’s antics, but for the record, the notorious twosome become entangled in a media storm, relentlessly pursued by the paparazzi after being blamed for a major incident at a fashionable launch party.
They flee penniless to the French Riviera and decide to make their escape plan permanent.
Jennifer says she’s nervous about how the movie will appeal to the diehard TV fans, and a new generation of moviegoers. But if the mood on set was any guide, there will be no shortage of laughs.
According to a report, at one point producers had to tell the cast and crew to peg back on their Patsy and Edina-like drinking habits between scenes.
“This really was a case of life imitating art. It was probably the funniest film to work on in years.
“Everyone had a blast.”
