Step 1 – All that walking, especially in platforms and heels, can harden the skin on the soles of your feet.

“Surprisingly, the skin on the palms of your hands and soles of your feet have an extra skin layer that isn’t found anywhere else on your body,” says Monika Carvalho, owner of The Nail Lab. “However, this layer of skin thickens in response to stress to protect itself. The soles of our feet are genetically determined to be slightly thicker; but it’s thicker mostly because of how much we use them.”

To soften the skin on your feet, regularly use a buffer to prevent hardening callouses, but avoid blades and scalpels at all costs.

Step 2 – You may remember to moisturise your body straight after the shower, but did you know it’s just as important to keep your toots hydrated as well?

“The motion of rubbing cream into our feet not only makes us feel good, but it also stimulates blood flow to the area and promotes hydration,” continues Carvalho. “Lather your feet with a rich lotion and pop a pair of socks on overnight, and you’ll wake up in the morning with baby-soft feet! Try Human + Kind All In One Hand Elbow Feet Cream, $14.95
