The delightful and ever-talented John Frieda ambassador, David Keogh shows us how to create a wrap around plait on me that was an ultra modern take on Heidi. Here’s what he had to say.
Q Are there any tricks to creating the perfect plait?
A The only trick to the perfect braid is not to make it too perfect. It’s better if the hair is a little dirty, as that will add some texture. Using a couple of sprays of the John Frieda Luxurious Volume Dry shampoo before hand will give it great texture, and help to create that deconstructed look. I’d even suggest not looking in the mirror while creating the plait, to keep it more natural.
Q What products did you use on my fine hair to beef the plait up?
A Whilst hair was still wet I used the John Frieda Luxurious Volume Volume Building Mousse for thickening and texturizing your hair. Then to finish, I added a little John Frieda Luxurious Volume Fine to Full Blow Out Spray – this created a little more volume on your hair.
Q Who do you think is rocking a good braid this season on the red carpet?
A I love Beyonce’s crown braid! It was a basic braid that was then wrapped back around the head to create a halo. Obsessed!
Q What are your predictions for summer hair colour in Australia for blondes and brunettes? Is red still the hot hue?
A My predictions for hair colour this summer are going to be cool ends and dark roots, like Michelle Williams. Rachel McAdam’s gorgeous Light Auburn blonde colour is also a standout. I really believe that the baliage style will start to fade out and you will see more block colours that are soft and warm. Red is still the hot hue for the season with strawberry blonde tones rather then the deeper darker reds that we have seen in winter.
Q What shampoo do you use to wash your dog Bondi with and how often?
A Well, she normally goes to the groomers to be washed, but if I have to wash her I just use a very light body wash that I get from Trader Joe’s as it is not filled with chemicals and will not make her skin itch.
