Black-tie Hair: The Basket Weave Hair Guide That’s Ideal For Brides

It’s part medieval fair maiden, a dash of classic and a load of glam- yes, this super styled basket weave will not only turn heads as you make your grand entrance, but steal hearts too.

Hairstylist and Creative Director Paula Petronella Burgmeijer, who created the look, says as far as big-day ‘dos go, this one’s in a league of its own. “The basket weave is like wearing a piece of art – it’s unique, divine and elegant all in one,” explains Paula.

Suits: Most face shapes. Works best on medium to long hair but hair extensions can be added.

Wedding style: Avant-garde, black-tie, uber glam or super sophisticated

Wear it with: A dramatic, sexy, structured or simple style.

Timing: “Allow between 1-2 hours depending on the hair length, thickness, texture and how large the weave sections are,” explains Paula.

Get it at: “Only a handful of people across the world have managed to achieve the skills to create a polished and sleek basket weave, so make sure you have a hair trial first,” advises Paula.
