Melbourne Spring Fashion Festival was a veritable feast for the eyes and a welcome relief from all the dreary clothes we’ve been relegated to wearing, long past their due date (go away cold weather!).

Here our tips for the top trends to emerge from the week which we can look forward to in the coming months:

Metallics

On clothing and accessories, think all things shiny. It adds a certain energy to your outfit that only spring can bring.

Sheer blacks

Make them languid and light, so that even though they’re black they say Spring.

Midriffs

Yes, still. But they are wearable because it’s only a tiny sliver of skin you see at the smallest part of the ribs. Team with a high-waisted something, never a hipster.

Fluid Fabrics

Long, lean lines with soft fabric swishing past your ankles … it’s not about volume. The silhouettes are streamlined and the overall look is like a tall iced tea.
