Gorgeous Wonderland star Brooke Satchwell, looking more lean and toned than ever in a stunning black dress, revealed just how hard she works to get the head-turning look.

“I just discovered KX Pilates, that’s pretty fantastic,” confesses the 35-year-old when asked the secret to her dazzling look.

“That got me into this dress!”

KX Pilates is a fast-paced, high intensity, body-toning workout in just 50 minutes, combining traditional reformer Pilates with cardio and endurance training.

“I’ve tried everything…including Crossfit. I got quite a kick out of it. I got seriously into fitness probably about seven years ago.

“It was more for the endorphins, and having a clear head, psychological advantage.

“I find I never feel quite as good when I’m not doing it.”

MasterChef Australia judges George Calombaris, Gary Mehigan, and Matt Preston, looking like they’d just walked off the set of their award-winning series, admit they didn’t quite have the same preparation.

“We all get together about four or five hours [beforehand] and talk about what to wear, joked Matt, with tongue firmly in cheek.

“It’s a bit like a slumber party where few all sit around and say ‘what do you reckon?’

Our favourite comic Magda Szubanski, stunning and svelte in a Mela Purdie long-sleeve draped dress, took time out to share some touching insights about her recently released book Reckoning.

The Carousel was also backstage later in the evening to hear a touching speech from Joel Jackson, who won the best actor award for his portrayal of singer Peter Allen in Seven’s Peter Allen: Not The Boy Next Door.

A humble Joel admits the first celebratory call after receiving the accolade was to his mum.

“His [Peter Allen’s] humility was something that spoke to me and his need for family and friends. That was always the most important thing [for Peter].

“Seeing who he was around his friends and family was something that was really astonishing and made me look for the simpler things in my own career, so that was a good lesson.”

The night also belonged to Hollywood star Cate Blanchett who was honoured with the Longford Lyell lifetime achievement award.

“I feel very old, but I feel very honoured,” said the 46-year-old Oscar winner.

“The industry is something I just draw so much from.”
