Need it Now: An Eye & Lip Cream

Want smooth skin all over, Jennifer Lopez style? Especially around the eyes and lips? Read on …

For years, Anna Field from the Paddington Beauty Room has recommended applying an anti-ageing eye cream to the contours of the lips.

“The eyes and lips dry and dehydrate more quickly than the rest of the face, as the skin is much finer,” she explains. Of course, there’s another similarity between the skin around the eyes and lips – both areas are prone to the long-term impact of expression lines.

Anna was evidently one step ahead of the guys in lab coats – because the big skincare buzz right now is all about creams formulated specifically to treat both areas.

Perfect timing: With the cool winds of autumn in the offing, our delicate eye and lip areas needs even more TLC.

La Prairie Anti-Aging Eye and Lip Perfection à Porter, $180. Anna’s personal pick, this eye cream-gel smooth fine lines and a light diffuser disguises signs of fatigue around the eye. Marine and vegetal extracts work to correct visible signs of ageing, reducing the appearance of dark circles under the eyes. While for lips, a derivative of plant oil and hyaluronic acid work together to restore plumpness. “It’s your best friend in a handbag,” says Anna. “This almighty duo is everything you need to maintain the two most vulnerable areas on your skin. A quick-hit pick-me-up will ensure a vibrant youthful appearance all day long. The lip balm is rich and effective but not sticky and tacky on the lips, while the eye revitaliser rehydrates, adds light and freshness to the eye area.”

Guerlain Orchidée Imperiale Eye and Lip Cream, $247. Luxe ingredients, gold and orchid, target all the trouble spots like dark circles, puffiness and fine lines.

Elemis Pro-Intense Eye and Lip Contour Cream, $149, 07 5564 6767. Active plant stem cells from edelweiss help hydrate the delicate area around the eyes as well as soothe lips.

Sisley Sisleÿa Eye and Lip Contour Creme, $210, is loved by beauty afficionados the world over.
