No touch-ups, no reapplying – applied correctly, your morning make-up will last all day, even during your busiest times.
We’ve all been there. It’s 2pm and you just know the care you took on your make-up this morning will never last the day. What’s the solution? Piling the product on thickly? Lugging makeup around with you? “No”, according to Celebrity Make-up Artist Jill Powell.
“It’s all about choosing the right products and applying them correctly. For everyday people at home, I’m sure you want to do your make-up once in the morning and you don’t want to have to deal with it, you don’t want to worry about it smudging or moving throughout the day”.
She should know too. Some of Jill’s clients are the busiest people in Hollywood. Take US actress, singer and X-Factor judge Demi Lovato for instance. She performs, appears on TV and has just finished touring – throughout that hectic schedule her flawless complexion always looks just right. You guessed it – Jill and her ‘stay-put’ application techniques that always keep Demi looking camera-ready.
In this video, she explains step-by-step to Beauty Editor Glenn Nutley (himself a proven guru when it comes to cosmetics) how it’s achieved. Aussie actress Susie Collins sits in the model’s chair for this one and receives the perfect ‘look’ for a photo-shoot with Glenn later in the day in the California desert. Conditions to challenge any ‘last-all-day’ makeup look!
Jill’s first tip is to use primer!
She says: “If you have a lot of texture issues or if you have large pores I would definitely suggest a primer with some dimethicone in it. “Another reason I use primers, when your skin is so smooth or so slick or an oily client, sometimes it will help to make the makeup stick and help it last all day.”
Powell then continues through her use of cream foundations, concealers and finally she contours using powders – all applied with the lightest of touches to remain sheer – such subtlety produces an unbelievably natural result.
