With six Fridays until Christmas Day making your list and checking it twice has never been more important than this year. This is not the year to leave your shopping to the last minute.

Not only will being organised ensure you have a stress free, well planned Holiday Season but it will ensure you make your dollars go further by savvy shopping in November.

The recent years have seen the growing popularity of November special event sales.  Let’s walk through each sale and how best to shop them. Do check back here at The Carousel throughout the events for more insider information on specific bargains and strategies.

If you haven’t already, make a list of all of the gifts you need to purchase in the upcoming months. This will be your plan for your bargain hunting.

This is how you should approach the November Festival of Sales.  It is an opportunity to save dollars on high value items.  Your list is the best way to start.

Identify the kind of gift you would like to give and the budget.

If you know your brother loves Bose mini speakers and you will spend $200 then when you find one for $80 you will snap it up.  You will also know what brands and category of items to target.  This is important for events like Click Frenzy.

Once you have your list and budget the fun begins.

If you are shopping sales like Click Frenzy that have time sensitive offers like their famous Go Wild 99% off sale items, it is the quick or the disappointed.  This is when you prioritise the items you target when the sale begins.  If your priority is saving money, then make sure the big dollar savings are the first items you buy.  If you are targeting a specific brand item, target that first.  Too many friends of mine have been distracted with the small, unimportant savings and missed the high dollar or high-value savings.

What are the key sales available in November?

November 11 Singles Day (Guanggun Jie)

This Chinese holiday is the opposite of Valentine’s Day.  Instead it is a celebration of being single and is on 11th of November (11/11 with all the number ones symbolising being single).  Chinese online shopping site Alibaba.com claimed the date for its sale, which has become the biggest online sale in the world. Each year the sale goes from strength to strength. Last year, Alibaba recorded $38.4 billion USD revenue globally over the 24-hour sale period.   Aussie shoppers hit up 3.2 million clicks in 24 hours.

Australian retailers like AliExpress, ASOS, eBay, Catch and Harvey Norman are all gearing up to take part this year.

Every year, there’s a live-streamed gala to kick off the 24-hour festivities, with notable celebrities taking part like Taylor Swift appearing as the headlining act last year. Previous years included Mariah Carey and our very own Nicole Kidman.

Sale pricing will be revealed before the sale, and then for 24 hours on November 11, that site will be a sale frenzy.

November 27 – Black Friday

Why Black Friday?  It is a positive name which refers to being profitable ‘in the black’ rather than ‘in the red’ meaning debt. Macy New York started this sale as a post-Thanksgiving sale that become a sensation. People lined up at the front door and ran to scoop up a bargain. This sale has since become popular throughout the US and even jumped the pond to the UK. Year on year this event has become more popular in Australia with many Aussie retailers getting on board.

Check your favourite brands and they will be participating or head to platforms like eBay, Catch and Amazon to bag Black Friday bargains.

Naturally we will bring you the deals and offers closer to the date.

November 30 – Cyber Monday

The Monday after Black Friday was traditionally the online version of the sale. These sales have become so popular that there are even “lead up to Black Friday” sales online so they are no longer limited to a single day. Many call it ‘Black November’ as there are so many sales in November inspired by Black Friday and Cyber Monday.

Hot Shopping Tip:

Many brands participate in these sales and even extend their discounted pricing beyond the period of the sale.  Check in on your favourite brand’s websites directly as you will be surprised at their offers during this period and beyond.

Happy Savvy Shopping!
