Four years after recovering from breast cancer, Sally Obermeder has welcomed a little Christmas miracle – daughter Elyssa Rose.
The TV personality and author shared the happy news with a picture on Instagram of her holding her precious gift.
Baby Elyssa Rose will be a younger sister for Annabelle Grace, five.
Sally had been on leave for her hosting duties on The Daily Edition to travel to the US for the birth of her baby.
She posted a picture of Annabelle Grace with the surrogate blurred in the background on the weekend – the family is keeping the surrogate’s identity a secret.
The former Today Tonight reporter had been worried they would still be in Milwaukee over Christmas after waiting longer than expected for the baby’s birth.
But, her spirits were raised when staff at their hotel surprised her with a Christmas tree.
“Sometimes the kindness of strangers leaves me speechless,” Sally wrote on her Instagram page.
“We have been staying in this gorgeous hotel for 10 days now. We thought by now the baby would have come and we’d be gone, but that hasn’t happened.
“Annabelle is homesick and missing her room, her routine and everything she knows. I broke the bad news to her that we’d most likely be here now for xmas too. Tears. Endless tears. I mentioned in passing to a hotel staff member that we’ll be here for xmas and Annabelle is a bit bummed.
“The next day while we were out they put up this amazing xmas tree in our room – totally decorated it and you could have heard Annabelle squeal with delight 4 states away.”
After life-saving surgery to beat breast cancer in 2011, doctors told Sally it would be too dangerous for her to try and get pregnant again.
She broke the news she was going to be a mum again via her Instagram account earlier this year, soon after her 40th birthday and 15th wedding anniversary.
Seated next to husband Marcus, Sally’s beaming four-year-old daughter Annabelle held up a sign, confirming the new addition to the family.
“I’m going to be a big sister,” it read.
The brunette beauty added in the post that she was “thrilled” to be welcoming her second child after previously speaking about her past struggles to conceive a sibling for her daughter.
“Yes, it’s true. Thrilled to bits to share that @marcusobermederand I are adding to our family thanks to the most incredible surrogate,” Sally captioned the celebratory picture.
