Have you ever wanted bright, defined eyes without looking like you’re wearing fake coloured contact lenses? Well, ACUVUE® has answered your peeper prayers with their new 1-DAY ACUVUE® DEFINE™ Contact Lens range.

Here is our transcript of The Carousel’s Lifestyle Writer Bianca Spendlove’s interview with ACUVUE® expert and optometrist Dr Emma Gillies.

Bianca: There’s a new contact lens on the market which will not only help with your vision and eye-health, but is also the perfect addition to your beauty arsenal. Have you ever wanted your eyes to sparkle and ‘pop’.. but in a subtle way? Then this is the product for you. It’s the 1-DAY ACUVUE® DEFINE™ Contact Lens range.

These lenses are available in prescription and non-prescription and they’re designed to brighten and enhance your natural eye colour… protect your eyes from sun damage… and correct your vision. All sounds great to me, so let’s learn more about it from our ACUVUE® expert and optometrist.

Bianca: Hi Emma, thanks for joining us to talk through the new ACUVUE® range. Now, they’re designed to enhance your eye’s appearance AND health. What inspired ACUVUE® to create this new product?

Emma: We set out to do something completely different, to create a contact lens that emphasizes the beauty of the natural eye. The technology, art and design principles in this product have combined to produce a lens that looks unique on everyone whilst offering the comfort, quality and safety that ACUVUE® brand lenses are known for.

The lenses are made out of a breathable hydrogel material to help keep eyes feeling fresh and comfortable, from morning until night. This new category of beauty contact lenses is different from coloured contact lenses that can mask the beauty of the natural eye. With 1-DAY ACUVUE® DEFINE™, your natural iris is not lost; in fact, it plays a pivotal role in your final beauty look.

With our Beauty-Wrapped-in-Comfort™ technology, the coloured pattern is inside the lens, not on the surface, ensuring that the pigments are not in contact with the surface of the eye. 1-DAY ACUVUE® DEFINE™ provides UV protection, blocking approximately 97% of UVB rays and 81% of UVA rays*.

Nervous About Wearing Contacts? Here's How To Rock The Newest Range
Behind the scenes of our shoot!

Bianca: Wow, that’s some fun science facts for you. Now, I wear glasses daily while working but I’ve never worn contact lenses, not even those fancy dress ones. I’d love to have a go but to be honest I find it all a bit daunting. Could you talk me through the process?

How To Fit Your Contact Lenses

Emma:
ALWAYS wash your hands before touching your contact lenses
– Check to make sure the lens is the correct way out
– Place the lens on the tip of your index finger
– Hold your upper lashes firmly against your brow bone, to stop you from blinking
– Pull down your lower lid with your middle finger
– Place the lens directly onto the eye over the iris
– Take your finger away, slowly look down then gently release the upper and lower lids and blink

Emma: Now you have them both in, how did you find that?

Bianca: Simple and easy. Thanks for showing me, not scary at all. And I like how the lenses make my eyes appear more intense, but subtly, and also they really shine and ‘stand out’.

So now I can put them in, can you tell me more about the new ACUVUE® DEFINE™range? How’s it different from generic contact lenses?

Emma: The DEFINE™ range has prescription and non-correction lenses in different styles to work for all eye colours and include UV-protection for outdoor use. They are available at optometrists nationwide.

Bianca: So do you still need to wear sunglasses when outside if the lenses provide UV protection?

Emma: All ACUVUE® Brand Contact Lenses have UV Blocking to help provide protection against transmission of harmful UV radiation to the cornea and into the eye. UV absorbing contact lenses are NOT substitutes for protective UV absorbing eyewear such as UV absorbing goggles or sunglasses because they do not completely cover the eye and surrounding area. You should continue to use UV absorbing eyewear as directed by your eye care professional.

Bianca: Who do you think would benefit most from ACUVUE® DEFINE™?

Emma: Anyone who wants to enhance the natural beauty of their eyes using the healthiest and safest contact lens modality.

Bianca: Thank you so much.

Emma: You’re welcome – I like the difference the lenses make to your eyes.
